The Love of a Father

A letter from baby to daddy

Amanda here! While on a walk with my husband and daughter, I was inspired to write this: a poem from the perspective of my daughter. It's a thank you to all fathers and father figures, and the role they play in our children's lives.

"I knew you would be there to guide me..."

Dear Daddy,

You may not have carried me in your womb,

But you carried me in your heart.

From the moment I was conceived,

And even before,

I knew you would be the perfect daddy for me.

Your strength and joy are traits I admire

And wish to emulate when I'm older.

I was watching you from heaven

As I was planning my life,

And I knew you would be there to guide me

When I joined you and mommy on earth.

You may not have carried me in your womb,

But you carry me in your arms,

In your strong loving arms

Wrapping me with love and protection.

It takes two souls to bring a new one into the world,

and I'm so glad you are one of them.

Happy Father's Day daddy,

Today and always.

Love your little girl.
