Living in the Now

Grounding yourself in the present

If you're anything like us, you tend to live life in the future, constantly planning your next move before fully appreciating your current state. However, if we've learned anything over the past few years, it's that the older you get, the faster life seems to fly by. What that means is, if you're always focused on tomorrow, you miss out on today. With life buzzing by, it is more important than ever to pause and appreciate where we are. In the spirit of this message, today's blog is a meditative poem about living in the now. We urge you to follow this as a guided meditation, taking the time to stop, breathe, and enjoy.

Stop

Close your eyes

Breathe in

Breathe out

Look around

Observe

Pay attention

Be present

Breathe in

Putrid thoughts creep in

Slowly weave their tangled fingers

Through your focused homeostasis

Breathe out

"Breathe in. Breathe out...Be present"

Resist the pull

Resist the urge to wonder about tomorrow

When today's qualms are still sitting on the shelf

Breathe in

Appreciate the now

Relish in the splendour of today

Before it becomes the lamenting of yesteryear

Breathe out

Release the gnawing need to daydream

You cannot hold a pipe dream in your hands

But you can mourn a ghost

Breathe in

Let life wash over you in sea-foamy waves

Let it carry you to shore

As you surrender yourself to the tides

Breathe out

Breathe out the expectations you hold for tomorrow

Breathe out the anxieties and fears of the unknown

Breathe out the what ifs and whens

Breathe in

Breathe in the now

Breathe in and feel your blood pulsing

Breathe in and smile

Breathe in today

Before you breathe out tomorrow
