From the words of Sarah and Robin
Welcome July! Welcome summer, long nights, melting ice cream cones, fireworks, roasting marshmallows, fireflies and constellations. Welcome carefree days, poolside lounging, and sunshine for miles. In honour of what feels like the shortest season of the year, here is a message from Amanda's spirit guides, Sarah and Robin.
"...partake in activities that make you feel light, free, and weightless."
As Amanda so aptly stated, welcome to the "good times." However, with the good times comes an influx of the likelihood of slipping back into old patterns. One drink by the pool turns into two, turns into three, turns into a whole pack. One piece of cake turns to two, turns to the whole two tiers (okay, so we exaggerate a bit, but you get the point). What we are saying is, of course summer is a time to relax, but be sure not to regress.
The question is, how do you maintain your physical and spiritual practices in a season so many of you have determined as the season to "let loose?" You set boundaries of course. They do not need to be physical boundaries, more like emotional boundaries. Set the intention that you will only partake in activities that make you feel light, free, and weightless. If you feel your soul slipping into heaviness, with the proper intention set, you soul will automatically know to correct itself. However, if you do not set any rules, you will keep falling and may not even realize it. By the time autumn rolls around, you may not even recognize yourself anymore (a bit of an extreme, we admit, but there will likely be aspects of yourself you no longer recognize).
So with all of the above in mind, here are our set of rules for a spiritually fulfilling summer:
Interact with people and places that make you feel joyful
Carve out time to be with yourself, even just for a few minutes
Welcome the feeling of sunshine in your soul, but not at the detriment of your physical body
Smile with all parts of yourself
A little rain can go a long way. Welcome it with gratitude
Indulge but don't fall on the side of gluttony
Have fun
In summary, enjoy the warmth and the sunshine, for they only stay at their strongest for a short period of time. Happy summer Backyard Family!
